
#FuturoTAP: “The government should have the possibility of being part of the executive management right away”
Ambitur.pt is listening to Ambitur advisors about the future of TAP, trying to understand whether or not the government should intervene in the airline’s situation, how far that intervention can or should go and what the best timing is.
Vítor Filipe, president of TQ Travel Quality, shares his vision with us.
“I think the government should intervene. TAP is a strategic company for the country, particularly for its most important economic activity, tourism.
The intervention must be thorough. The state, given its position as shareholder, must be part of the executive management and have direct interference in the management of the company. The results achieved
The accumulated losses are not the result of this pandemic.
I would point out that one of the mistakes of the current management has been the relationship in recent years with its biggest client, the “Travel Agencies”, which have always been an important support for the company. Certainly, with the outbreak of this crisis, they will once again be viewed in a different light, as they have always stood by their clients in resolving the many problems that have arisen.
In the current context, the government’s intervention must be immediate and it must have the possibility of being part of the executive management right away. The money that will be made available to the company will have
necessarily be well managed”.
